Make Your Own Outdoor Gear

Making Your Own Gear

With the prices on outdoor equipment as expensive as they are, along with the fact that not all equipment is as personal as some would like, there are many who’ve turned to producing their own backpacking & hiking equipment. Making your own gear is both fun & challenging, but in the end, the pride & satisfaction that results from using something you’ve made is inexplicable.

Many people have decided to make their own equipment due to their own dissatisfaction with more commercialized products. Some do it for their own personal knowledge & better understanding of how something works, or should work. Ray Jardine, known by many as the father of ultralite backpacking, sells do-it-yourself kits for making things like backpacks, knives, quilts, tarps, bomber hats & more. Ray & his wife Jenny have been on countless adventures around the world, and their knowledge of outdoor activities has helped them in the development of their equipment making kits. (more…)

March 09 trip down south

Douglas, Yoosung & I We went down south for 5 days. It took us more than 40 hours to drive. It was painful to sit in a car for more than 10 hours in a row, but it was definitely a memorable trip 4 SURE! * Rented all the camping equipments from school, and car was owned by Duckho. These 2 factors significant reduced our camping budget. Plus, we did not have any intention to spend money either. As a result, it only cost about $350 per person in this trip.

kk_kudat_tourcylcling.MOV

Started out at 0800 hrs from Api-api at Kota Kinabalu and manage to reach the Tip of Borneo, Simpang Mengayau at exactly 1800 hrs. Just manage to catch the sunset! It was a challenging ride most especially between the border of kota Belud to the Jungtion of Kudat and Kota Merudu. I would say the most thrilling part of the whole journey was actually going off road on my Trek 1.2 road bike when on the last strech of road before reaching the Tip of Borneo! But happy to say no flat tyer this time! Pedaling time was 8 hours and 9 minutes. Distance was 193.77km and total elevation gain is 1478 m. My fastest speed was on the going down the big hill before reaching to Kota Belud which was at 83.9km! It was excinting and scary at the same time! But I have to say that Franco who kindly took my camping gears in his car made the trip a hell of a lot easier!

Buy Hunting Equipment and Outdoor Gear Online

With the internet, you can successfully buy almost all the hunting equipment and outdoor gear you could possibly need, all from the comfort of your very own home. The internet can be a great place to find some of the best prices available. However, you may be hesitant to spend your hard earned dollars on expensive hunting gear online without actually seeing the items in person. With a few simple steps, you can purchase your precious hunting equipment online and be confident in your decision.

The first step I usually take is to jump online and start doing some research. Let’s say, for example, I’m looking to purchase a new pair of binoculars. I’ll go directly to Google.com and begin searching for “binocular reviews”. Of course, you need to be careful about where you are getting your review information from. The best course of action is to read multiple reviews to get the best idea of what you’re looking for. Once you learn more about the different types you can begin to narrow down your searches to the products that best suit your needs. (more…)
